Renowned action director Yuen Woo-ping took over choreography duties, introducing a sleek, varied combat palette. The film delivers three distinct action highlights:

“The strongest fist is the one never thrown.” — Ip Man (fictional, but faithful)

Unlike the wide, sweeping strikes of Northern Shaolin styles, Donnie Yen's choreography relies on tight, close-quarters combat and rapid deflection.

Defensive, calculated, and fluid. The choreography mirrors Ip Man’s aging body, emphasizing redirection of energy, parries, and emotional stakes over flashy acrobatics.

Fleeing post-war trials, Ip Man relocates to British-occupied Hong Kong in 1949 to establish a martial arts school. He faces fierce opposition from local masters—led by Hung Gar master Hung Chun-nam (played by Sammo Hung)—and must ultimately defend Chinese martial arts against a tyrannical British boxer named "The Twister."
