Released on March 29, 2010, by Legacy Recordings and Columbia Records, The Ultimate Collection was strategically timed. At the time, Streisand was experiencing a resurgence in popularity, partly fueled by her mention in pop culture phenomena like the TV show Glee , making the compilation feel particularly timely. While it is less comprehensive than the two-disc The Essential from 2002, this album is a "valiant attempt to paint as big a picture of her illustrious career as is possible on just a single disc".

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

It’s Dave writing this, so I’ll spare you the fluffy tribute.

I’ve been an incredibly lucky guy. My first big break was being born to fantastic parents. The best.

When I was quite young (27), I wrote the original version of this book. Its success led me to all kinds of opportunities, including the record-setting Looneyspoons cookbook and, of course, Dragons’ Den. Those were two wonderful experiences. Perhaps the greatest perk of my career has been the associated non-stop travel across this beautiful country. So many stunning spots. So many kind, welcoming people. I’ve enjoyed the entire journey immensely.

I live in Waterloo and Sarnia now and love both. Stop by sometime (but call first!). I have two amazing kids, great friends, a troublingly deep passion for the Detroit Lions, an obsession with A&W, a 126-year-old father and the world’s worst behaved puppy, Jasper.

As I said, I’ve been an incredibly lucky guy.
