In the vast landscape of Kannada literature, traditional genres like poetry, philosophy, and devotion often take center stage. However, there exists a niche yet significant category of texts known as (ರತಿ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ). Translated directly, Rathi refers to the Hindu goddess of love, desire, and passion, while Vignana means science or systematic knowledge. Thus, Rathi Vignana is the "science of love and intimacy," analogous to the ancient Kama Sutra but presented in a localized Kannada cultural context.
