The Kitab Sairus Salikin was authored by Shaykh 'Abd al-Ṣamad ibn 'Abd al-Raḥmān ibn 'Abd al-Jalīl al-Falimbani (1704-1788). A towering figure of his time, he hailed from Palembang, South Sumatra. After studying in the heart of the Islamic world, he became a revered scholar in Mecca and Medina, bridging the scholarship of the Middle East and the spiritual needs of the Malay populace. His most enduring contribution to Islamic literature is this kitab, which he wrote in the Malay language. The title translates as "The Journey of the Wayfarer (Salik) to the Worship of the Lord of the Worlds".

Having identified the destructive elements ( muhlikat ), this volume focuses on the munjiyat , which are the "saving" or "liberating" qualities that lead to salvation.
