By analyzing three distinct eras—the studio pin-up (1940s-1950s), the tabloid paparazzi shot (1990s-2000s), and the curated "candid" post (2020s)—this paper reveals a paradox. While actresses appear to have seized control of their representation, they have instead entered a more insidious form of labor: the performance of authenticity, where every "fun," "unfiltered" picture is a calculated contribution to a personal brand designed to survive the relentless churn of popular media.
