The film follows Arthur, King of the Britons (Graham Chapman), as he traverses a bleak, muddy, and hilariously banal medieval England in search of knights brave enough to join his court. Alongside his faithful servant, Patsy (Terry Gilliam), who gallops behind him while clapping two coconut halves together, Arthur assembles his Round Table: the brave (but cowardly) Sir Robin (Eric Idle); the virtuous (but easily tempted) Sir Galahad (Michael Palin); the rash and murderous Sir Lancelot (John Cleese); and the logic-obsessed Sir Bedevere (Terry Jones).
