A French feminist group, Collectif Soeurcières, started a Change.org petition that garnered over 37,000 signatures. In July 2020, singer Duffy penned an open letter to Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, criticizing the film for glamorizing sexual violence. The Parents Television Council (PTC) also formally requested its removal.
