The original developer of C-Xbox Tool (Carcharius) has long since left the scene. The source code was never officially released. As of 2025, the community has accepted that It is abandonware but thoroughly functional abandonware. Newer projects like "FATXplorer" have taken over the file system duties, but the HDD locking mechanism of v2.06 remains unmatched.
