Why would you want to install this on a Windows 7 rig today?

The Microsoft DirectX SDK (June 2010) is the last version fully compatible with Windows 7. Some redistributable packages have build numbers ending in 37 . For example, dxcpl.exe from SDK version 9.29.1962.37 is a known stable build for Windows 7 SP1 64-bit. Dxcpl Windows 7 64 Bit 37

Right-click dxcpl.exe → Properties → Details. The Product Version should be 9.29.1962.37 or similar. If you see a different number > 37, it’s a newer SDK (which may not support Windows 7 fully). Why would you want to install this on a Windows 7 rig today
