The waste ink pads are made of dense felt. If you reset the digital counter multiple times without cleaning or replacing these pads, excess ink will eventually overflow out of the bottom of the printer, ruining your desk or floor. After applying the software fix, consider opening the bottom panel of your printer to clean the felts with soapy water, let them dry completely, or install an external waste ink bottle mod to catch future overflow.
