I used the “Stock to Stage 1 Safe” wizard. It asked: “EGR delete? Yes. Swirl flaps removed? Yes. VNT vane stop screw adjusted? Yes.” It then generated a custom calibration—not some wild 180hp tune, but a conservative +25hp / +50Nm, with tweaked IQ limiters to avoid black smoke.

On an EDC16, if you add fuel without air, you get black smoke and high EGTs. You must raise the smoke limiter map (usually mg/h vs. RPM vs. Boost) to allow more fuel to match the increased boost. edc16 tuning software

: Translates accelerator pedal percentage and engine RPM into a torque request (Nm).

If you are a , start with a budget OBD tool like MPPS V16 and focus on learning WinOLS. Download a free training pack that explains VAG diesel mapping basics, then practice identifying and adjusting simple maps such as EGR delete or torque limiters. This public link is valid for 7 days

Road tuning can be effective, but a dyno provides controlled conditions and immediate feedback on air‑fuel ratios, exhaust gas temperatures, and torque outputs.

The torque limiter restricts fuel injection based on RPM and atmospheric pressure to protect the clutch, dual-mass flywheel, and transmission. You must raise this map to allow the driver's request to be processed. Smoke Limiter (MAP or MAF based) Can’t copy the link right now

This is non-negotiable. Click "Checksum" or "CRC Fix" in your EDC16 tuning software. The software will recalculate the security bytes. Without this, the ECU will throw a "Checksum error" and refuse to start.
